Two years ago while, on the web, I was looking for some information about Piedmont, I fortunately found an interesting book with inside particular interesting curiosities and beautiful pictures about this amazing region.
Immediately I was intrigued by that good publication and I bought it.
After only a little time I received the cardboard package directly at home with that red book inside.
Immediately I opened the package and I had only read some pages when I was surprised! The book’s authors were a two Danish people.
They told of their exciting, long end thrilling adventure buying and rebuilding their new holiday home in the Langhe hills.
Erik , Jesper and their families described to how us they realized a dream about living in a Italian region of which they had only heard about; A zone very different in respect to the flat Danish ground, an area surrounded by mountains sheltered from in the wind and away from the sea: in short…a new life for them!
The book is divided in a lot chapters in which it speaks about the best wine, food and Piedmont inhabitants.
The authors drew and underlined very well particular features of the “Piemontesi ”normally too close at first meeting but, after some time, too available!
They wrote also about the underground Cathedrals situated in Canelli (recognized this year World Heritage of Humanity – UNESCO), the best wine producers, best restaurants and farm, the Slow Food Movement ( founded in Bra (CN) on 2000), the goat milk cheese producer, the butcher and at last about a incredible story of a dog in search of gold …or the Truffle!
It was very nice and exciting to read this book. It is translated in to an easy English and reading it is very pleasant.
I advice to you to read this book: you can know and discover a lot of good Piedmont qualities.
If you love Italy – and perhaps even daydream about it – you will love this book.
